Writing During The Holidays

Do you write during the holidays? I know many writers find it difficult to get a lot of writing finished during the holiday season. Many people have family visiting or spend time buying gifts and running errands. I personally spend more time visiting family, which usually results in less productivity. So, what can you do about this drop in productivity? My advice is to prepare for it. While I didn’t do a very good job this year, next year I will plan on increasing the number of hours I work during the first few weeks of December. What about you? How do manage your writing during the holidays?

Netflix or Blockbuster?

I don’t subscribe to cable or satellite television because frankly, I got tired of paying almost a hundred dollars a month to watch a few channels that I actually enjoyed. So, although I still use the cable internet service (limited choices here), they don’t see a nickel for television services. I have always used Netflix or Blockbuster to watch movies, and last year I made the decision to simply use Netflix full time. The streaming services of Netflix and a great device called a Roku player helped me make th decision a little easier, and needing to catch up on five seasons of The Sopranos on DVD meant I had plenty to watch for a while anyway. I have written an article about the differences between them to help you choose Netflix or Blockbuster if you’re looking to get rid of your cable or satellite bill as well. I haven’t looked back, and honestly I don’t think I could stomach paying the high bills again.
