One of Those Days

Today was just one of those days for me. You know the ones, where everything you touch gets destroyed? I had recently finished adding new features to my link cloaker and was in the process of using a new encoder to create the installation package. I use the online demo to test out the installation before distribution so any problems can come present themselves before my customers have any issues. Sure enough, I realized there was a small problem with the new package. So, I went to the source code to fix it, and I was greeted with the “encoded” code instead of the actual source. Apparently I had mistakenly overwritten my original source code with the encoded version. Since I had not yet created a backup of the new version, I was forced to use the older version and basically rewrite all the changes I had made. So, I wasted about 4 hours this afternoon doing something that I had brought on myself. Everything is fine now, and I have multiple backups of the new source code, but I could have spent that time doing other things. If you’ve ever had one of these days, share your story with me by commenting below, and in a week or so I will choose one of the commenters and give them a free copy of my link cloaker. Or, if you already own it, I will give you one of my other products of comparable value.

Call Me A Twitter

Well, I decided to finally start using Twitter. I had joined up a long time ago, but never really used it because I didn’t know anyone else that was using it at the time. Now quite a few folks I know are using it, and so this morning I downloaded twhirl and started twittering. Wow, that’s a mouthful. Anyway, if you want to follow me on twitter, just check out my twitter page. Now everyone will know how boring I am :-)

Memorial Day Remembrance

Personal No Comments »

Sinec today is Memorial Day, I was thinking earlier about the way the day is actually treated. If you know the history of Memorial Day, it was originally designed to be basically a day of National Remembrance to Honor those who have died in service to their country. Although it was not officially declared until 1967, many communities, states, and counties had been doing something very similar since the 1800’s. In 1971 Congress changed the day to be on Monday, thus creating a 3 day weekend. The VFW and many others have expressed concerns that the true meaning of the day has been lost and it is now considered by many as just a way to kickoff summer vacations. They would like to see Memorial Day moved back to May 30th. I for one support this notion, and I do believe that many people do not understand the true meaning of Memorial Day. So, today, please take a few moments to remember and honor those who have given their lives in service.
